Batlagundu School

We have been supporting the School for many, many years.  First we built the toilets and then a new kitchen; that was back in the 1990's.  For the past few years we have been buying them computers, one a year, although we didn't have sufficient funds last year to help them.  If the children have computer experience then they can get much better jobs.  We have also bought them lots of desks and benches and library books.

I was very happy to see our computers still in use - although some of the labels had come off.  How many children have been able to use these computers over the years?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          I was asked if I would pay for a new school kitchen.  All the cooking is done over four big open fires, so the heat, together with the rain, has led to the building decaying quite quickly and now the roof leaks and the walls are crumbling.  I had to tell them that we could not help them as it would cost too much and we couldn't afford it.  Plus I really don't want to pay to knock down a building that we paid for in the first place!  I would like to buy them another computer this year though.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      The year 10 children were taking examinations.  They were sitting on the ground, some of them in the hot sun .
